The Bishop's Palace & Gardens is the spectacular medieval home of the Bishops of Bath & Wells for over 800 years. The Palace is surrounded by a moat with Medieval Gatehouse and set in 14 acres of stunning RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) partner gardens. Highlights include the wells that give the city of Wells its name and the famous Swans of Wells who ring a bell at the Gatehouse when they want food!
Admission ticket includes entrance into the Medieval Palace, Chapel and Gardens. Daily guided tours are available and included in the ticket price.
Visitors can choose to wander the ancient rooms of the Palace by themselves and take their time to explore the wonderfully diverse gardens, or they can join one of the fascinating tours which can be either of the Palace or of the Grounds. There is a cafe on site serving locally sourced and home made food. There are also events and exhibitions taking place regularly.
