Hop aboard the world-famous Mersey River Explorer Cruise and see Liverpool's history-rich sights by water! Choose from a standard hop-on hop-off River Mersey cruise or a combination ticket that includes entrance to other Liverpool attractions.

The great-value upgrade options include entrance to Liverpool's interactive Spaceport attraction - or the U-Boat Story, which is home to a real WWII German submarine. For an action-packed day with the whole family, these upgrade options are ideal!

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing way to see Liverpool or you want a full day of family-friendly attractions, the Mersey River Explorer Cruise with optional upgrades is your ticket to Liverpool fun. The standard Mersey River Explorer Cruise lasts a leisurely 50-minutes, with scheduled stops at Seacombe and Birkenhead Woodside ports. Enjoy the cruise as a hop-on hop-off tour to see what interests you most - simply hop off when you want, and re-board the boat when you're ready to continue to the next stop.

While taking in views of Liverpool's riverside architecture and wildlife, you can listen to entertaining audio commentary about the River Mersey's fascinating maritime history. Hear tales of smuggling, music and war - three diverse influences that have touched this friendly city over the years and given it a unique charm.

Make a full day of it by upgrading your hop-on hop-off cruise to include tickets to the Spaceport attraction at Seacombe. This family-friendly exhibition covers the subject of space travel with various themed galleries, interactive exhibits and audio-visual experiences. Highlights include a "Wallace and Gromit in Space" feature - a themed display that showcases the popular main characters from the British animated short films.

Alternatively, you can choose to include entrance to the U-Boat story attraction at Birkenhead Woodside. Featuring a German submarine from WWII, the U-Boat Story offers an insight into life as a submariner during the wartime years.

Purchase entrance to either attraction with your Mersey River Explorer Cruise tickets, or upgrade to the All-Inclusive option, which includes both attractions, for an adventurous day out that the whole family will enjoy!

You will learn about the impact made with years of trading and with lots of American and Canadian connections for example once Samuel Cunard realised he was able to regularise the mail service. Imports and exports, Rum, Sugar, Cotton, Tobacco & “Superlambananas!”.

The route is level and starts close to the Cruise Terminal and continues alongside the famous River Mersey. Your local tour guide will explain why since 1712 Liverpool has peaked and been in decline and yet now especially since its European Capital Culture Year of 2008 it has once again risen from the ashes and emerged as the most vibrant UK city outside of London.

13:30pm - The tour starts outside our ticket office in the Pier Head Village on Canada Boulevard where you will meet your local tour guide.

13:35 - The first thing you will be shown is the Titanic Memorial which is alongside the Cruise Terminal, if you've seen the film "Titanic" when the accident happened in 1912 the ill fated ship sank with the words "Titanic Liverpool" at the stern as it was registered by White Star Line shipping whose Head Office you will be shown later on in your tour and if you wished after your walk you can visit the Titanic exhibition in the Maritime Museum.

13:45 - Admire the "Three Graces" our principle waterfront buildings with the iconic Liver Birds. With stunning Italianate and Edwardian Baroque Architecture and the first British Skyscraper taken from inspiration in Chicago.

14:00 - Your guide will bring the panoramic view off the opposite side of the River Mersey to life with famous ships like the CSS Alabama, and the importance of Liverpool during WW11 when around 65% of the UK's supplies arrived in the Port of Liverpool. If you are lucky you will see the famous ferry across the Mersey and your guide will explain how you might take a River Cruise after your tour.

14:15 - Walk across the bridge guarding the 9metre tidal range at the entrance to the Royal Albert Dock, passing statues and even the propellor from the Cunard Ship the Lucitania which was sunk by a German torpedo.

14:20 - Your Guide will point out the Tate Gallery and the Maritime & International Slavery Museum and answer any questions you might have and suggest other things you can do with the rest of your day in Liverpool.

14:25 - Admire the historical docks and the Tall Ships safe in the harbour built to be fireproof and opened by Prince Albert himself in 1846.

14:30 - Why not finish your tour with free time in the Albert Docks with lots of things to do. The tour finishes at the Pumphouse, once the powerhouse of the docks and now a pub, you are also only minutes away from the newly regenerated Old Dock area which was bombed during the blitz and now contains the UK's largest open air retail and leisure area called Liverpool One.
