Stop At: Glen Torridon, Shieldaig Scotland

Our position in the heart of the Highlands makes us the ideal company to use if you want to explore the fabulous surrounding glens and mountains. We have a passion for the outdoors and love helping groups of people experience the true beauty of the area taking you to and from the starting and finish points.

Located an hour's drive from Inverness the Torridon mountain range is stunning consisting of three Munros (Scottish mountains above 3,000ft), Beinn Alligin, Liathach and Beinn Eighe. Along with these day hikes we offer walks up Ben Nevis, Stac Pollaidh and Suilven. The mountains we have chosen represent our favourites, the ones we know and love the most and are within driveable distance from where we are based.

Each of the mountains is a day's climbing with an early morning collection from your accommodation. A general level of fitness is required and we would be delighted to advise you of which walk would be most suitable. It is essential that appropriate clothing and footwear is worn and we are more than happy to offer any advice.

Our day starts at Clootie Well which is an old pilgrimage spot and has a forest decorated with brightly coloured rags tied to the trees. For thousands of years and since pre-Christian times people have come to this forest to visit the wells and springs dipping cloth in the water and tying it to a branch while saying a prayer to the spirits and goddesses. A practice you can take part in on your experience! The tour then moves on to Fairy Glen where local children would decorate springs with flowers in the hope that the fairies would keep the water clean. This practice has gone on for thousands of years. You'll also see the money trees where hundreds of old coins are hammered into the bark as offerings to the fairies. Your last stop before being returned home is the 4,000 year old bronze age cemetery of Clava Cairns which is the most favoured contender for the inspiration behind the site of Craigh na Dun from the series "Outlander".

This is a private tour customised around you and your interests. History, scenery, whisky, whatever it is you are interested in I can discuss with you to find out exactly what you are looking for in Scotland. (The locations listed are examples of places we can visit though the list is not meant to be a complete itinerary)

I am an ex geophysicist turned writer/actor from Dundee, have lived 17 years in Edinburgh and my father was from Tain, home to Glenmorangie whisky so I am a wealth of knwledge on exciting and unusual places to visit in Scotland.

I also worked on all seasons of the hit Starz tv show 'Outlander' as an extra so I know the locations and have lots of great stories to share.
